Techno 293 One Design competition:

The 2007 East Coast Junior Windsurfing Championships will be held in Vineyard Haven, MA (on Martha’s Vineyard) July 6-8, 2007.  For more information contact sail_mv@verizon.net.

There is new enthusiasm for windsurfing competition surrounding the selection of a new contemporary design for Olympic competition- the RS-X.  Like the RS-X, the Techno 293 combines early planing and high-speed fun, with important light air performance.  Both boards are similar in shape/dimension and have a retractable center board and adjustable mast track.  These new “hybrid” designs represent the latest developments in windsurfing, and are attractive to young sailors who want to ride like the pros.  The RS-X is the carbon Olympic-level race machine.  The Techno 293 is all-around functional, durable, and is one third the price of the Olympic selection- perfect for Junior Sailors and Club Programs.

ISAF & U.S. Windsurfing/U.S. Sailing have selected the Bic Techno 293 for the Junior Competition under ISAF Formula Experience Racing Rules. The Techno 293 is already the favored windsurf board for Juniors in Europe and other countries, with over 1,000 used in French sailing programs alone.  In 2006, the Jr. Windsurfing World Championships had over 200 competitors on Techno 293 One Designs.

For the first time there is an obvious choice for Junior Sailing Programs.  One board offers easy windsurfing learning, International Junior Competition, and a clear path to the Olympics.
